Instructions for using the Thomson-Gale databases:

1. Click on the drop-down menu in the top right corner where it says "Select a database".
2. Choose a database:

1. Student Resource Centre: a good all-purpose place to look for articles on general topics
2. Biography Resource Centre: biographical articles
3. Canadian Periodicals Index: has articles from Canadian sources, such as the Globe & Mail newspaper, on Canadian topics. If you’re researching, for example, aspects of Canadian law, start with this database.
4. Gale Virtual Reference Library: a database of encyclopedias, almanacs, and other specialized reference materials

1. Enter the username 68wess and the password student.
2. Click "Authenticate" then "Proceed" and begin your search. Be sure to use the Help link or ask the teacher-librarian if you need assistance in your search.
