Template for Newspaper using Microsoft Word


    To create a template for your newspaper, many programs can be used.
    As most computers are equiped with Microsoft Word, we will use it to create a template.
    Please feel free to use any other program available to you.


    To create a frame around the Header:

    1. Click on Start (bottom left corner)
    2. Scroll up to Program and click
    3. Scroll to Microsoft Word and click
    4. At the top of the page, on the tool bar, click on Format
    5. Scroll down to Border and Shading then click
                a. Pick a setting (for us 3D and/or Shadow would be nice)
                b. Pick a style (scroll down, there are many)
                c. Pick a colour
                d. Pick a width (if it lets you)
    6. Click OK to close the window. You should have a frame text box on your page.

    To create fancy text:

    1. Make sure that the cursor is in the box
    2. At the top of the screen on the tool bal, click Insert
    3. Scroll down to Picture and click
                a. To select fancy writing, click on Word Art
                b. To select a picture, click on Clip Art or From File (if you have it saved in a document)

    Repeat the same steps to create a Footer:

    You are now ready to write your paper. To give you ideas, look at a real newspapers. Keep it realistic but nice.
    Don't forget pictures and ads.
