Instructional plan


    Purpose:
                1. To expand the multicultural content as written in the French as a Second Language IRP.
                2. To familiarize the students enrolled in French as a Second Language classes with the people behind the French Culture.

    Participants:
                1. The students enrolled in French as a Second Language Grade 10 classes.
                2. The students must have completed Grade 8 and Grade 9 French or the equivalent.
                3. The students must have prior computer skills.
               
    Content:
                1. Research one French country from a given list of forty four.
                2. Prepare small projects from each of the six Units covered in the textbook "Passage 3".
                3. Create a Newspaper on the French country.
                4. Present the Newspaper to the class.
                5. Design a questionnaire and a key from the material in the Newspaper.
                6. Use the Newspaper and questionnaire for younger French grades.
                7. Evaluate the quality of the Newspaper and questionnaire by marking and analyzing the questionnaire.

    Goal for  Learners:
                Through research and small projects, the students will familiarize themselves with the life and culture
                of the French-speaking people from around the world.

    Instructional Objectives:
                1. The student will research one French country from a given list of fourty four.
                2. The student will prepare small projects from each of the six Units covered in the textbook "Passage 3".
                3. The student will create a Newspaper on their French country.
               
    Learning Environment:
                1. The students will use the Library the first two classes of the project for the basic research of their country.
                2. The students will use the Computer Lab for one class to create a template for their Newspaper.
                3. The students will use the classroom and their home for the remainder of the project.

    Evaluation:
                1. The students will be evaluated according to two Rubrics: Oral assignments and Written assignments.
                2. The parts of the project prepared for the Newspaper and the presentation of the Newspaper will be
                    recorded as a final project mark.
                3. The parts of the project prepared and presented for each Unit of the textbook will be recorded as part
                   of the Unit mark.
