Classroom policies

  1. Each student has received an outline of the course on the first day of school.  This outline is to be kept in the front of their binder.  It will help them to know where we are and where we are going.
  1. Homework is assigned every day.  Most of the work should be completed in class.  If the work is not completed in class, it is the responsibility of the student to complete it at home.  Completing daily homework is essential in order to understand the next lesson.
  1. Several quizzes will be given per Unit.  If you are away, you must bring a note to excuse your absence, then you will receive an “omit”.  No note, you will receive a “0”.  Everyone in the class the day of the quiz must write the quiz.
  1. There is a Unit test at the end of each Unit.  All students must write the test on that day. Only students with proper medical excuse will be allowed to write the test at a later date. There is no re-testing.
  1. There will be a cut-off date near the end of each month.  No late work, excuse for quizzes or test not written will be accepted after the cut-off date.  This will be followed by an interim report that will be sent home to parent/guardian via the student.  It is the responsibility of the student to bring the interim report home.
  1. It is the student’s responsibility to:
    1. Be on time to class.
    2. Come prepared with pencils, erasers, textbook, binder, paper, calculator, ruler and anything else needed for the lesson.
    3. Complete all work before the cut-off date.
    4. Behave properly in class.
    5. Bring home interim report to parent/guardian.
    6. Bring a note when absent.
    7. As the portable is located too far from the washrooms, there will be no bathroom breaks during class time.  Students                         are to use the washroom during the ten-minute break.  If there is a medical problem, please let me know.

    8. Extra help is available:
    1. I am available most days at lunch in my classroom.  Please come in the first ten minutes of lunchtime.
    2. There is a homework club before school (7:30-8:30) and after school (3:00-4:00) in the learning assistance room.
    3. I also have a list of tutors available

     9. If parent/guardian need to contact me, they can either phone the school and leave a message on my voice mail (I usually call             back within a few days), or come to portable 16 after 3 PM (I usually stay in the class for 15 minutes).

        Thank you

Mrs. Legassicke
