Geometry Project

Essentials of Math 10

  1. Choose a group of 3 in total to do this project with.
  2. Choose a simple structure to build (e.g. dog house, garden shed, play house, rocket…)
  3. Make a scale 3-D drawing of your structure. You must indicate all the "real life" measurements on the drawing as well as clearly indicating the scale.
  4. Make front, side and top views of your structure.
  5. Get your "plans" approved before you start building.
  6. Build a full scale model of your structure. You will be marked on the accuracy of your measurements and how they reflect your scale drawing so be careful! Your scale model should be at least 30 cm by 30 cm.
  7. Finish up your model with as many extras as time and creativity allow (e.g. doors that open, colour your structure, put in landscaping such as trees…)
  8. Materials you will need to bring to class:
    • Cardboard (both for the structure and the base)
    • Glue or tape
    • Pencil crayons, crayons or markers
    • Ruler or measuring tape
    • Scissors for cutting cardboard
    • Any extras you want to add.
    • Note: You may bring all these to class and leave them in the room for the week.
