Data Analysis Project

Essentials of Math 10

  1. Pick a partner to work with.
  2. Pick a topic that you will survey a sample of grade 10's to get their opinion on.
  3. Prepare your survey questions (you must have a minimum of 2 questions). Remember to make your questions in a format that will be easy to tabulate later (e.g. yes/no questions, multiple choice, 5 point agree/disagree scale.)
  4. Decide how to pick a sample of grade 10's. You must demonstrate how your sample is a representative sample (i.e. truly reflects all the grade 10's). Be sure you have a large enough sample and to choose as randomly as possible. You must also state what type of sample it is (i.e. simple random, stratified random, cluster, or systematic).
  5. Survey your chosen sample.
  6. Present your raw data for each question in a clear format (e.g. tally and frequency chart, stem and leaf plot)
  7. Display your data on an appropriate type of graph or graphs (e.g. bar, circle, broken line, histogram). You may draw the graph by hand or by computer. Neatness counts!!
  8. Write what conclusions you can make from data.
  9. Present your data and conclusions to the class on
