FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2009

SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL
The Dover Bay Senior Boys Volleyball team will be playing the VIU's men's Red Shirts this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Dover Bay. Come out and support your team. After the game the VIU men's team will play Douglas College.

CROSS COUNTRY
Congratulations to the cross country team on another excellent meet at Vanier yesterday. Both the girls team and the boys team placed first.

WRESTLING
Wrestling practices start Monday the 19th of October. All practices are on the stage, bring clean runners and wear shorts or sweats and a t-shirt. Boys and girls are welcome - especially if you are small! New this year are novice only practices Mondays and Thursdays from 6-7pm. Advanced practices are Mondays and Thursdays from 7-8pm. Also new this year is a girls only practice on Wednesdays from 630 to 730pm. See you Monday!

WEIGHT LIFTING TEAM
There will be a meeting at lunch on Monday October 19 in the weight room for all students who are interested in joining the school weightlifting team. The team is open to both boys and girls grades 8-12.

LANGUAGE CHALLENGE EXAMS
Any students interested in writing one of the Language Challenge Exams should see their counselor by October 19th. For more information, see September's newsletter. Anyone with the forms, make sure you return them to your counselor by October 21st.

YEARBOOK
Only two weeks for submission of grad writeups! Don't miss out! See Ms. Domino for more information or pick up sheets in the office or on grad board. October 25th is the final day!

VARIETY NIGHT PARTICIPANTS
All Variety Night participants please arrive no later than 6 pm tonight.

VARIETY NIGHT
Tonight's the night. It's Friday Night Variety Night!! Tickets are $5 at the door. Come early!! Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7! Lots of music, dance and laughs!!

CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES EVENT
Permission slips for the Canadian Universities event November 23rd are available in the Graduation Centre. Also a handout for applying to UBC, Terry Fox Scholarship, and the Invent the Future Essay/Video Contest/Wendy's Classic Achiever Scholarship, TD Canada Trust Scholarship applications are all due to the Graduation Centre by October 21st.

YEARBOOK
Hey all you artists! The yearbook is looking for an original piece of art to put on the cover. The Artist chosen will receive a free yearbook. Details are in Ms. Domino's room.

GRADUATION PHOTOS
All Grade 12's need to sign up for a photo session before the end of next week. Sign up sheet is in front of Mr. Lintott's office. Also a Session envelope in the office must be picked up to put the $50 deposit in. If you do not order photos once they arrive, you will have your deposit returned to you.

GRADUATION TRANSITION STANDARDS
The following January Grads need to see Mr. Dendes about their Graduation Transition Standards. Chad Belanger, Krista Corsie, Rosie Fairweather, Jonathon Gravelle, Rikki Harder, Kristina Ruddick, Jorge Sansall, Arash Sultani, Janine Wilson.

ECO FACT OF THE DAY
An aluminum can that is thrown away will still be a can 500 years from now! So remember to recycle your cans.
