Guidelines & General Info
Visitors To The School
Our school can see many people visit it during a day or week. In keeping with school district policy, we are asking that all visitors report to the office before going anywhere else in the building. Visitors who will be staying for any length of time will sign in on our “Visitor’s” form and receive a visitor’s tag. That way, all staff and students will know that people in our school are safe and welcome to be here!
Absence and Lates
Please phone the school @ 250-754-7523 between 8:00 and 8:30 am and in the afternoon from 12:00 – 12:15 pm if for any reason your child(ren) will be absent or late from school. The school will attempt to contact parents of children who are not in school and have not contacted the school to notify us that the child will be absent.
Student Sign Out
At times, students may need to leave school before the end of the day. We are asking all parents/caregivers to stop in at the office and “sign” their child. We are unable to send students home without direct contact with an authorized person. If your child returns to the school on the same day, please drop back in and sign them back in.
Student Pick-up and Drop-Off
When dropping off or picking up your child(ren) from school please use the designated spots. Please be courteous of others by not blocking the driveways. If your child is being picked up at school by someone other than the parent, guardian, or designated day-care, please ensure a note has been written authorizing the new person to do so.
Supervision
Please be advised that outside supervision starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:00 pm. The gym and library are often open earlier at 8:15 a.m. Please try and limit students arriving before 8:30 a.m. or staying after 3:00 p.m. for safety reasons.
School Dress Guidelines
The following dress guidelines have been adopted at Brechin Elementary School in accordance with the SD68 dress code.
No student will wear clothing which:
- Displays inappropriate or offensive pictures or language
- Displays any reference to racism, alcohol or drugs
- Displays excessive amounts of skin – ie. No halter tops with spaghetti straps,
tube tops or backless tops. Tops must meet bottoms.
- Shoes must be worn at all times.
We view the school setting as a workplace and feel that students should wear clothing that is suitable for such a workplace.
