Daily Physical Activity
We know that active, healthy students are happier and learn better. They also develop good habits that bring better chances of living longer, healthier lives. To help students achieve their best, the Ministry of Education has mandated Daily Physical Activity, for all schools and students in B.C. Schools will provide 30 minutes of daily physical activity up to Grade 9.
Daily Physical Activity works alongside other Government initiatives, such as the Healthy Schools Network (Brechin will be joining this), Action Schools! BC (Brechin is a part of this), the School Fruit and Vegetable Snack program (Brechin has this!) and revisions to guidelines for the sale of food and beverages within schools, all of which are tackling B.C’s obesity and healthy living challenges.
Students at Brechin will participate in DPA 2-3 times a week in primary or intermediate groupings with Mrs. Goodman and the other 2-3 times per week in their own class with their classroom teacher. Students are expected to have running shoes at school everyday! Proper footwear helps to promote proper posture and helps to prevent injuries.
Students will:
