Year at a Glance
The 2009-10 school year will open up new opportunities for
Barsby students interested in Drama. The following is a rough outline
of what is scheduled for this year. Students interested in any of these
activities should see Mr. Rokeby for more details and get involved.

Musical Theatre (Outline)
Tuesday and Thursday 3:15-5:00 in the
Drama Room
Barsby Musical Theatre Presents.....come out and join the fun and earn
school credit for being part of our musical production. Following the
success of Dark of the Moon,
Oliver , and Little Shop of Horrors, this
year's show promises to be even more exciting. Talented, hard working
students are required both on-stage and off-stage to see this project
through to opening night.
New students are welcome, no experience necessary!
2010 N.I.R.D. Fest: John Barsby Theatre takes the show on the road!
Last year, Barsby sent the largest delegation to the 2009 North
Island Regional
Drama Fest at Dover Bay Secondary, and
brought the house down with the comedy This
is a Play. This year promises to be twice as much fun
because we are bringing a Senior and a Junior
play up to the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay March 2, 3, & 4th,
2010.
Plays will be produced in 1st semester
Drama Classes!
Improv Games: ....and now for something totally different..... J-BIT!
That's right J-BIT, the John Barsby Improv Team is back.
Barsby will be training to enter a team in the Vancouver Island Improv
Games. We will meet Wednesday after school in the
drama room, and learn the ins & outs, ons & offs, give
& take of improv. No blocking, no wimping!
All students welcome, Wednesday after school,
on-stage!
Variety Night: WE'RE BACK!...... and you're invited!
The tradition of John Barsby Variety Night will returnthis
year. So if you Think you can Dance or Bring out your Inner Idol, then
launch your Shooting Star and get the attention you deserve!
